Need Based Scholarships

These are based on financial need and the family’s ability to pay.  Eligibility may vary based on:

  • Cost of institution
  • College calculates family contribution
  • College awards aid based on level of need and available funding
  • Appeal process

Merit Based Scholarships

These are based on academic or athletic achievement and artistic ability.  With merit based scholarships, family resources are not a factor.  These scholarships may or may not be annually renewed. Eligibility may vary based on:

  • The students measure of quality
  • Award levels based on institutional goals and budget
  • No appeal process (typically)

In order to be eligible to be considered for a university sport, you need to be certified by the NCAA Eligibility Center to compete at an NCAA Division I or II school. Please use the links below for more information on eligibility and each of these divisions.
